Your chance to recognize a Village treasure!

Nominations are now open for the 2013 Village Awards.
Nominations are now open for the 2013 Village Awards.

Since 1991, the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation has presented awards to members of our community as our way of saying thank you to those individuals, organizations, and businesses that make the Village, East Village, and NoHo such unique and special places. As we have since the awards began in 1991, we invite the community to submit a nomination. The nomination period is open now through April 10th.

email-nomination-sidebar13There are too many awardees to name individually—over 175 awards have been presented since we began this program, including 2 block associations, 6 front stoop restorations, 14 gardens and parks, 26 restaurants, 20 specialty shops, 4 bookshops, 8 businesses, 5 schools, 29 cultural organizations, 25 individuals, 15 quality of life organizations, 6 churches, 1 statue, 1 television show, and 1 award to the beautiful wisteria on 10th, 11th, and Stuyvesant Streets. As you can see from the preceeding list, the awards are as unique and varied as our neighborhoods.

We invite you to tell us about a house of worship, organization, business, restoration, individual—really anything or anyone that you feel makes a positive impact on life in the Village, East Village, or NoHo. This is your chance to give some props to a favorite local person, place, or thing. A committee of GVSHP members, community leaders, business owners, and past award recipients from all areas of the Village will review the nominations and select the awardees who will be honored at GVSHP’s Annual Meeting on June 17.

Please just remember that past awardees are not eligible, and neither are those outside of Greenwich Village, the East Village, or NoHo. And since the Greenwich Village Society sponsors these awards, employees and Trustees (even though we are awesome) are not eligible.

You can submit a nomination, learn more about the awards, and peruse a list of past winners on the GVSHP website. We look forward to hearing from you.
