Reporting Landmarks Violations

Historic Districts Maps

Membership is just one way you can support the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation. The Society is always looking for dedicated volunteers to assist the staff. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, including working in the office on data-entry or mailings, or assisting at programs and events to check in guests or help distribute materials.

GVSHP is also grateful for any professional services that can be donated, including work with public relations, printing, graphic design, or accounting.

If you are interested in volunteering with GVSHP, please fill out and send this form.

Books Needed For GVSHP Library

A wall of bookshelves was one of the interior details greatly admired when GVSHP moved into its office at the Neighborhood Preservation Center. Filling those shelves is a formidable task, however.

The collection of books currently owned by GVSHP constitutes only the beginning of what is planned to be an extensive library of books about Greenwich Village and the architecture and history of the city. Any donations of books on these subjects would be very welcome.

GVSHP's library is often used by researchers and students interested in wide-ranging references to Greenwich Village, from the 19th century diaries of George Templeton Strong to the newest edition of the AIA Guide, from The Gangs of New York to Edith Wharton’s The Age of Innocence.

If you have any books you would like to donate to GVSHP, please contact the office at (212) 475-9585. We would be happy to speak with you about any potential additions to our growing library.
