Today we welcome Lauren Snetiker, the newest member of our staff, who joins the GVSHP team as our Development and Communications Manager. Lauren is looking forward to managing the individual membership program, initiating and maintaining website and interactive features, and creating print materials for special events. She is excited to be part of the important fundraising and advocacy efforts of the GVSHP.  Lauren will be taking over most of the duties previously performed by GVSHP’s longtime Director of Administration Drew Durniak.

Welcome aboard, lauren!

Lauren has a background in non-profit and arts management and previously worked as the Programs Manager at the Appraisers Association of America, the premier membership association for appraisers of the fine and decorative arts. She earned her M.A. in Visual Art Administration from NYU in 2012 and her B.A. in History from the University of Michigan in 2008.

A current Manhattan resident, Lauren grew up in New Jersey, about 30 miles west of New York City, and has fond memories of coming into the city as a child with her parents and siblings to visit a museum, see a show, or stroll through a park. She smiles when her father talks about her late grandfather’s shoe store, the successful Marvin’s Shoes (located at 19 Greenwich Avenue from 1958 to 1971). Additionally, Lauren’s enjoyment of contemporary art has led to a deep appreciation for the Village and an interest in the impact that the Village has had on the artists and artworks from the 1960s through today.

“New York City is such an important part of my life. I am thrilled to be part of the GVSHP, which melds my passions for history, art, and culture with my love of the greatest city in the world. My goal is to continue to help the organization fulfill its mission and preserve the Village for future generations.”
