Welcome Aboard, Sarah Bean Apmann

Today we’re thrilled to welcome aboard Sarah Bean Apmann, GVSHP’s new Director of Research and Preservation. Sarah fills the position most recently held by Amanda Davis.  In her new position, Sarah will interact with the public in many capacities, including as the point person for GVSHP’s review of landmarks applications, coordinator of our historic research, and pursuer of resolution of landmarks and zoning violations complaints which our office receives.  Sarah can be reached at sapmann@gvshp.org or 212-475-9585 x36.

Before coming to GVSHP, Sarah worked as an architectural historian in preservation for the past eighteen years.  She grew up in Staten Island and received her BA in History from Lehigh University and her MS in Historic Preservation from Columbia University.   While attending Columbia, her internship was with Landmarks West! and she wrote her thesis on the New York City Apartment Hotel.  She has been a consultant since graduating with projects all over the Tri-State area.  She was one of the founders and a principal with the historic preservation firm, TKS Historic Resources, Inc., a historic preservation firm on Long Island.  Additionally she served as Chair of the Town of Huntington’s Historic Preservation Commission for the last three years.
