Welcome Aboard, Laura Fleischmann

Today we welcome aboard Laura Fleischmann, who will be taking over our Program and Administrative Associate position. She’s excited to continue her work with the GVSHP team, assisting with member services, public programs, special projects, and many things in between.

Laura

Laura has been with GVSHP since August 2017 as our Development & Programs Intern (and since November 2016 as a volunteer). Before joining GVSHP she worked as Development Associate at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, located nearby at the corner of 5th Avenue and 12th Street, and as a Research and Writing Intern for Curatious, an online resource that helps collectors, artists, and art professionals to navigate the contemporary art market. She received her B.A. in Art History from Clark University in 2014 – her love of arts, culture, history, and the great city of New York naturally drew her to GVSHP.

Laura grew up just outside the city in Mamaroneck, NY and now lives in East Harlem. Her parents, both “transplant New Yorkers,” regularly took her and her older sister into Manhattan to experience the excitement of the city. While working at Cardozo, Laura began to spend her afternoons getting lost in the Village, falling in love (as most do) with its iconic look, its arts and music history, and its quirky Villagers. It was on one of those strolls that she was first introduced to GVSHP, when she walked into a shop on Bleecker Street and saw Greenwich Village Stories displayed on the counter. She tells us that while here at GVSHP it’s been a pleasure for her to get to know these neighborhoods, and she looks forward to discovering much more.

You’ll continue to see Laura at our upcoming programs and special events, including our 21st Annual Spring House Tour, which she helps Lannyl Stephens to coordinate. She’s happy to remain a part of the GVSHP community!
