Welcome Cindy Zhang, Our Newest Hunter College Public Service Scholar

Cindy is already hard at work here at Village Preservation!

Village preservation is very fortunate to partner with the Public Service Scholar Program at Hunter College. The ambitious, experiential program provides undergraduate scholars academic coursework, as well as practical application. The two-semester course provides a curriculum that gives the student an understanding of how the city organizes services and the social policies that shape it; economic, social, and political concepts that underlie the city government’s role in programs and policies and the values and beliefs that shape their development, and the underlying principals of the functioning of non-profit and public service organizations. This is our second year in partnership Hunter College and we have been both honored and grateful to be a part of the education of these fine students.

She was also a Hunter Grove Scholar for StoryCorp’s Immigrant and Migrant initiative. There she conducted research on the reviews of the literature of immigrants from Mexico, Russia, Vietnam, India, and Syria.

This summer, she worked at the Association for a Better New York as an Undergraduate Census Intern where she contributed to ABNY’s citywide Census promotion, awareness, advocacy, and research campaigns.

Her personal interests include good food and collecting art books and art supplies.
