2015 House Tour Promises To Be Great!
The weather forecast for this Sunday is beautiful — 70’s and sunny — the perfect day for a leisurely stroll through some of the most beautiful homes in Greenwich Village, followed by a delightful reception with cocktails and hours d’oeuvres in a stunning space. All while supporting historic preservation, cultural documentation and education, and GVSHP.
Sound appealing? Then hurry up and buy your tickets for GVSHP’s Annual Benefit House Tour and Reception today or tomorrow, before prices increase for day-of purchases (if tickets don’t sell out).
Just to help entice you, we thought we’d share some images from prior years’ tours and receptions. Because the houses are private, we can’t publicize images of the home’s interiors in most cases — the only way to see them is to take the tour.
But as you can see from these images, the tour takes you to some of the most charming and intriguing houses in the Village. And the reception is always held at a splendid site that allows you to savor the visual feasts of the day.
The tour supports GVSHP’s advocacy work throughout the year, allowing us to push for and defend landmark and zoning protections, and to advocate against out-of-scale or inappropriate new development in our neighborhoods.
Since 2003, GVSHP has helped secure landmark designation of over 1,100 buildings in our neighborhood, and neighborhood-friendly, contextual rezonings for nearly 100 blocks.
The tour also supports GVSHP’s education work — whether it’s our children’s education program, our tours, lectures, book talks and panel discussions for the general public, or our continuing education program, instilling in real estate professionals the value of historic preservation.
Funds raised by the tour also allow GVSHP to provide much needed resources to the public — whether our research archives, historic information about every building in our neighborhood, oral histories with preservation pioneers and other important figures in our neighborhood’s history, or information on how to navigate the landmarks process.
